Made a whirlwind trip to Kelowna on Saturday to attend day one of the Lille Gard Festival. Due to the uncharacteristically rainy weather-including the loudest thunder I’ve ever heard in my life-things were a little crazy, because the sound crew and the bands had to keep moving back and forth between the outdoor stage and the indoor stage. Despite the hiccups, it was a great day, and I got to take in all sorts of great bands, many of which I had never heard before. Highlights included Cod Gone Wild, The Geese, the Ord Strauss Blues Revue and a brief interlude featuring Ari Neufeld (pictured with me here) covering a Massive Attack song on the banjo. (Hellbound? features one of Ari’s songs.) I also did a brief interview for Shaw TV that should air sometime later this week throughout the Okanagan.Oh yeah, and despite rumors, the lightning, thunder and torrential rains had absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact the Hellbound? tent was on site for the first time ever…
Tomorrow morning we are off to Cornerstone. Will post from there.
